October 2026 STRONG Award

Bruce R.
Bruce
Recognized for Steadiness, Resilience, Nurture, and Growth
Most people come in with a goal to get better. Bruce came in with a goal to not get worse.
When he started training with us, he was dealing with back pain and was honest about what he wanted: he didn't want to lose what he had, and if he could help it, he wanted to improve it. The real goal underneath that was simple and personal. He wanted to keep up with his grandkids. He wanted to stay active heading into retirement, not slow down because of it.
That's the short version of why Bruce is our October 2026 STRONG Award recipient. The longer version is better.
Steadiness
Bruce shows up. Monday, Wednesday, Friday, he's one of the first people in the building for Circuit.
And on the days he can't make it in? He still finds a way. A workout on his own. A walk. Something. The consistency isn't dependent on the session being on the calendar. It's just who he is.
Resilience
A few months ago, Bruce started dealing with some discomfort in his elbow. He didn't disappear, and he didn't push through it blindly either. He tended to it himself, stayed in communication with our coaches about it, and kept training in a way that let it improve instead of get worse.
That communication matters more than people realize. Telling us what's going on is what lets us adjust a session instead of just hoping for the best. Bruce does that every time, which is part of why he keeps moving forward instead of losing ground.
Nurture
If you train Circuit at 7:45 in Folsom, you know Bruce, because Bruce is a big part of why that group feels the way it does.
He's energetic. Outgoing. Positive. Lively, not loud, there's a difference, and his is the kind of energy that lifts the whole room. He was one of the first members when Circuit opened in Folsom, and he's kept that same passion going ever since, building a social environment where people feel welcomed and want to grow together. The 7:45 group is one of the most fun sessions we run, in large part because of what Bruce brings to it every time he walks in.
Growth
Bruce has completed more than 60 sessions with us, and the growth shows up everywhere you look. It shows up in his InBody scan. It shows up in the weights he reaches for. More than once, he's had our coaches pulling out heavier weights for a station than we'd planned on, because what he grabbed a few months ago isn't challenging anymore.
He's always looking for the next weight, the next round, the next harder version of the movement. That mindset is consistent with everything else about him: find out what's next, then go get it.
Why It Matters
Bruce walked in worried about losing ground. Instead, he's built a stronger body, a stronger elbow, and one of the best groups we run, just by showing up and being honest about what he needed along the way.
Bruce, thank you for the energy you bring to that 7:45 group, for being straight with us when something's off, and for proving that "not losing what I have" was never going to be the ceiling.
Together, we are capable. Together, we are STRONG.
